Best Halloween Movies to Watch

Halloween is right around the corner! Only this year, things are a bit different. A movie night may be the way to go; and we have the perfect watch list for you!

Our suggestions may not include the goriest of gory- but we promise that they can be enjoyed by any age age group!

Hocus Pocus (1993)

‘I put a spell on you…’ Great classic to watch if you are up for a dark- fantasy comedy horror film, plus a soundtrack that will stay in your head until Christmas!

Beetlejuice (1988)

This Tim Burton film features a spectacularly weird and creative plot and a whimsical humour that is excellently executed. Definitely worth the watch.

Goosebumps (2015)

Whether you are a fan of the books- or have never heard the name; this movie has an excellent dynamic of horror, adventure and a bit of romance. There are some jump- frights and menacing monster scenes, so if you are a person who gets creeped out easily, maybe watch this in the daytime.

E.T (1982)

This Spielberg fantasy remains a classic. It is fantastically weird as it explores a unique friendship between a boy and an Alien who gets stuck on Earth. Pack your tissues though, because this bittersweet sci-fi film will make your heart throb.

Ghostbusters (1984)

The Eighties really are a decade of halloween hits. But this may be one of the best. The combination of comedy, action and some scary stuff- plus the incredible onscreen chemistry between the characters just hits the target every time.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

(1993)

If you are already counting down the days till’ Christmas; then maybe this film is a good compensation for the time being. This stop-motion animation features an amazing story line and great characters- as well as a super creative and timeless collection of songs!

The Addams Family (1991)

This isn’t just ‘another scary movie.’ With dark and morbid humour and a lavish cast, this film tells the tale of a rather eccentric, not- so American family.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Apparently Tim Burton films are another theme on this list- and this is one you can’t go wrong with! Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder execute a beautifully sad, romantic fantasy masterpiece that is wonderfully weird, with a touching message. Makes for a great halloween watch for everyone!

There it is! Did we miss any? Let us know and we'll add it to the list.

Happy Halloweek!
